Thanksgiving Worship

Theme: Remembrance and Thanksgiving

Dates and Times

St Paul – Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 7pm.

Peace – Thursday, November 22, 2007, 9am.

Advent Worship

• Theme - The Genealogy of Jesus
• Combined services - St Paul and Peace will conduct three mid week Advent services. The first mid week Advent service will be in each church. The second mid week Advent service will be only at Peace. The third mid week Advent service will be only at St Paul. Everyone from both congregations are invited to worship at the last two services. At Peace a fellowship meal follows the service. At St Paul, a 5pm – 6pm fellowship meal precedes the service.

Congregational Strengths     

Three leadership meetings were conducted through the fall. Participants from both congregations looked to the future ministries of their parishes. In so doing they also listed the strengths from which their future ministries would proceed. The first and foremost strength listed for both congregations was the presence and power of God’s Holy Word. Included in the other strengths were: pastoral leadership, physical church facilities, sound traditions, new technology, the congregational family, music ministry, willingness to try new things and the prayer chains active in each parish. In recognizing the challenges before each congregation, participants in the leadership meetings were heartened by the many gifts and graces God has given each parish.

Contemporary Service

Peace and St Paul choirs have been working on the contemporary service that will be conducted this November 11^th at both congregations. The contemporary service will take place at the usual Sunday worship times. The Gospel Lesson is Luke 20:27-40, which is Jesus answer to the Saducees after they challenge Him in regard to the resurrection. The worship theme is “Life with the God of the Living”. This is a good service for invitation of guests.
